The socio-economic business drivers which lead to its development included the stark realisation that the craft industry was one of the most vulnerable micro enterprise sectors in the Irish Economy. Yet, all market research showed that the potential for growth looked more than just promising. According to the Crafts Council of Ireland, the Irish craft market was recorded as €98.6 million in 2003 and grew to €131.7 million in 2005.
